VERONA THE HIGHLIGHT AT €16,500

Aug 24, 2025

The second online foal auction of 2025 at Paardenveilingonline has successfully concluded. In a challenging market, the platform once again managed to reach the right buyers worldwide and place top talents at both domestic and international stables. The foals achieved an average price of almost €7,000, while the exclusive frozen embryos averaged €6,000. Most of the collection fell within the stable price range of €4,500 to €8,000, with several standouts well above that. Remarkable was the strong demand for filly foals and the broad international interest in the embryos.

Founders Alwin Scholten and Niels Mulder add:
“We are proud that we have been able to do this together with a strong team and our loyal customers for five years now. Our goal remains the same: to offer the best quality at realistic prices. The best proof of that? More and more often we see young foals sold through our auction return in top sport, and that’s what we ultimately do it for.”

Top foals to domestic and international buyers

The absolute star of the evening was Verona (Catoki x Echo van ’t Spieveld), who was sold under the virtual hammer for €16,500. What started as a wide bidding battle ended in a thrilling duel between a Dutch bidder and a buyer from the United Kingdom. With every click the tension rose, until the Netherlands eventually prevailed and managed to keep the mare in the country.

Civita AWN Z (Cumano x Epleaser van ’t Heike) also set off fireworks. First, Hungarian, French, and English buyers were strongly involved, but eventually the duel came down to Hungary and Argentina. After a fierce finale, Argentina took the win with a bid of €13,000.

The strikingly colored Vogue (New Pleasure VDL x Sanyo) also attracted great interest and, after lively bidding, was sold for €11,500, ensuring she remains in the Netherlands for sport.

International demand also remained high: Vivi-Janta (Ermitage Kalone x Hotspot) leaves for England for €10,500, Agaranka KK Z (Aganix du Seigneur Z x Chacco-Blue) goes to Sweden for €10,000, and Vicky Fantasie SV (Cero Blue x Diamant de Semilly) found a new owner in the United Kingdom for the same amount.

Frozen embryos: in demand worldwide

Remarkable was the 100% sale of the exclusive frozen embryos, which found buyers internationally. The most expensive embryo was a United Touch x Tinkabell, sold for €8,000 to Ireland. Other embryos, including United Touch x Chacco-Red (€6,500, Ireland), United Touch x Chiva du Rouet (€6,000, France), and United Touch x Cigale de Muze (€6,000, Portugal), confirmed the strong demand for top genetic quality. To Ireland also went embryos of Chacco-Blue x Sanghata (€6,000) and Cornet Obolensky x Havanna de Muze (€5,000).

International appreciation for quality

The Netherlands, Ireland, and the United Kingdom secured the most and highest lots, while Poland surprisingly invested broadly in the mid-segment (€5,000–€7,000). United Touch S also stood out with multiple embryos finding their way to Ireland, France, and Portugal. New export markets were also reached: for the first time, lots were sold to the United Arab Emirates and the United States.

Founders Alwin Scholten and Niels Mulder express their satisfaction: “Especially in a challenging market, it turns out that quality always finds its way. With a sales percentage of 90% and a complete sell-out of the embryos, we once again see that our concept works: carefully selected foals and embryos at realistic prices, accessible to a worldwide audience.”

Looking ahead: next auction

After this strong result, Paardenveilingonline looks forward to the next edition. From September 17 to 20, 2025, another collection will come online, featuring showjumping-bred foals and exclusive embryos.
